Some Thanksgiving Trivia
Here are some interesting tidbits to share today about Thanksgiving...

50 Pilgrims and 90 Wampanoag Indians attended, and it lasted for 3 days.
Only five women were there for the celebration.
Representatives established the first Thanksgiving observance in mid-October.
President Lincoln changed it to November to coincide with the Pilgrims' landing at Plymouth Rock.
Female turkeys don't gobble...they cackle.
Only the males make the infamous gobble sound that's associated with the holiday.
Historians have no record of turkey consumed at the inaugural feast.
The food choices at the festival were duck, geese, and swans.
Pumpkin pie isn't a dessert favorite.
Although it's been a basic part of the traditional meal since the 1700s, research from the American Pie Council reveals that...
Apple pie is the winner!
The first annual Macy's Thanksgiving Parade was in 1924.
The event featured animals borrowed from the Central Park Zoo...
Which included monkeys, bears, camels, and elephants, instead of the infamous balloons that are used today.
Snoopy has made the most of Macy's parade appearances.
Since his debut in 1968, they've exhibited him 39 times.
Jingle Bells was originally a Thanksgiving song.
James Pierpont named it "One Horse Open Sleigh" in 1857, and he intended it to be a Thanksgiving melody.
The tune became so popular during Christmas, 1859, that they changed the title to "Jingle Bells".
And the rest is history!
Benjamin Franklin wanted the turkey to be our national symbol.
He believed this bird would be a more respectable emblem of our nation.
Many disagreed with him, and they obviously didn't fulfill his wish.

Yale and Princeton played the first game in 1876, and the NFL kicked off its legacy in 1920 with 6 contests.
