Tell Yourself The Truth
Tap into renewed energy, improved well-being, and a brighter future as you let go of secrets and live authentically.
Most of us avoid telling the truth because we're afraid of the consequences.
With the feelings of hurt, anger, and resentment that show up.
Yet, when we avoid the truth, we cannot address reality.
You've heard the phrase, "The truth sets you free".
It's correct because you can deal with the way things are...
Not what you would imagine or hope them to be.
And it takes lots of mental energy to keep a secret.
I attended a mastermind leadership seminar last year.
The organizer asked us to share something we've buried from our past.
The type of things you'd imagine if others knew,
They certainly wouldn't approve of your behavior.
There was no discussion or feedback allowed...just listening.
It began slowly with confessions of "cheating on an 8th-grade exam".
Or some form of shoplifting when we were adolescents.
When everyone realized there weren't any harsh repercussions,
We opened up about more painful lapses of discernment.
After there wasn't any more sharing,
The facilitator asked if we felt less of anyone in the group.
Not one person said, "Yes".
And everybody in the room felt relieved to have revealed their secret.
We actually felt closer to one another!
But here's the most incredible part of the exercise...
They asked us to report back a week later about how we felt.
People had migraines disappear and depression diminished,
Sleep patterns improved and optimism had increased!
A couple of people said they felt "lighter".
This confirms that it requires enormous stamina to conceal the truth.
And with the freedom that disclosure provides,
You can now exploit this refreshed energy to have a better life.
And you become a less cautious, more spontaneous person.
Who creates a high-quality future of integrity and character...
With the weight of the world off your shoulders.
